D Mudslide Traveler Wonk 1.4
The realization that Gloria was gone hit Wonk like a Gränsfors Bruk power hammer. Traveler took one look at him and said, "road trip".
Where shall we go asked Traveler?
Wyoming, replied Wonk.
Why Wyoming?
Because I've never been there.
Wyoming ho! Loaded 3 batteries in the Coronado, solar fabric, rig for camping. a whole novel could be written about this adventure, but here we are in a Circle owned vacation rental, and it has been softly raining for 3 days, today it was getting worse, Wonk had the weather ap on his Q, barometer was dropping.
Cody heard it all first, lightning, thunders, loud clashes, Then they all heard it, the men looked at one another.
Wonk said, we need a plan. And so in the spirit of ALWAYS have an exit strategy, they did a back of the envelope job and moved on, even as the rain drops got even louder. School work, business to run, say what you will, but Wonk and Traveler grew up with Artificial Intelligence Executive Assistants, (AIEA), being part of their lives and now, as young entrepreneurs they depended on them to run things. Wonk and Traveler tend to the goals, AIS, the execution.
Right now it was breathtaking to watch, whitewater, racing down the canyon. Behind it, you can see from the drone, mud was coming, a big wavey wall of water coming down the canyon. The young men, moved, then turned the vehicle to the lee of any flooding ready to boogie. The loaded it with everything, but their go bags, then shut windows, barred doors.
Exit strategy 1 barked Wonk?
Bedroom window to vehicle, first to arrive drives.
2?
IF AFU rafters, try to get to the top of the building, bonus is anything that floats.
ALWAYS have an exit strategy. The old mantra soothed Traveler a bit, Wonk much more.
COME Cody, Traveler starting putting his life jacket on. If it seems to be silly to put floatation on a retriever, just slow them down, it also shields their ribs!
Wonk was calling the Circle company that rented the cabin, patch through to the owner, shot him a quick video, the edge of the deluge, probably a once in a lifetime event, when he wasn't feeling a light case of terror, while inwardly screaming WOW!
PHONE: Yes, ah thank you, said the owner, I see. Is there any chance of saving the dock, I just had it refurbished.
Wonk decided to pull one of Traveler's patented moves, "just stay silent."
Shot another video, mud, boulders, trees, even a cow, just hitting the dock, its shuddering, starting to deform, one side coming up, flip, gone.
END PHONE.
Wonk called for status.
Inundation unlikely, but possible, rock hit the drone at 50km. No idea what's coming. Traveler raised his arms, I grew up in the range and basin, with what we've seen on your weather app, the drone while we had it, I vote stick with the plan, wait it out, be ready to bail.
In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Psalm 95.
Amen, reverend Traveler. Wonk noted Traveler had these little sayings, stored away for a time where they are needed.
Traveler smiled, what's that old saw about atheists in fox holes?
They looked at each other, shrugged, smiled, what can you do?
Spared by the grace of God, the cabin was high enough off the canyon floor, sorry about the dock, that it was mostly a front row seat to witness the power of nature, cows, trees, boulders and an insane amount of flowing silt.
Coronado A auto'd most of the way, Traveler and Wonk plugged in for the ride home. Wonk worked on his enterprise. For Traveler it was a a time of reflection. This had not been the great and terrible day of the Lord, but from now on, he had some understanding of exactly what it means.
